The claim

「No bathing, hair-washing or open windows during the postpartum month」

Verdict

Myth

These taboos come from an era without reliable heating or hot water. Today, staying clean actually lowers the risk of wound and breast infection. The rule is warm water, quick washes, no chill, and care around wounds. Rooms need ventilation — overheating carries its own risks.
