The claim

「Babies shouldn’t be in air conditioning」

Verdict

Myth

Overheating is a known risk factor for SIDS — the AAP states plainly: do not let your baby get overheated, because it raises SIDS risk. Bundling is far more dangerous than air conditioning. The test is not a number on a thermometer: dress your baby in one layer more than you are wearing, then check for signs of overheating — sweating, a hot chest, flushed skin. No hat indoors once you are home from hospital. Air conditioning itself causes no illness; just keep the airflow off the baby, ventilate regularly and watch fluids.
