The claim

「Clogged ducts need forceful, painful massage」

Verdict

Myth

Forceful kneading does not clear a blockage — it causes tissue trauma, and abscess formation is especially likely in that setting. Current supportive care is: keep breastfeeding on demand so milk is removed effectively, use cold packs and NSAIDs for pain and swelling, and add gentle lymphatic-drainage-style massage; if pumping, use a well-fitting flange and moderate suction to avoid nipple trauma. Seek care for a temperature of 38°C (100.4°F) or above, chills and body aches, or redness and swelling that keep worsening.
