The claim

「Colic needs gripe water or probiotics to resolve」

Verdict

Myth

Colicky crying usually settles by 3 to 4 months as the nervous system matures. Probiotics do show some promise for infant colic, but the official conclusion is that in most cases we still do not know which strains actually help — so they are not a must-have. Over-the-counter "gripe water" products vary in composition and some contain sugar or alcohol. Soothing techniques plus time are the mainstay; ask your doctor before using any product.
